Bramcote College –East Midlands Netball Champions.

Bramcote College’s U16 Netball Team certainly didn’t let the awful wind and rain stop them this weekend at Emmanuel School as they competed in the East Midlands netball regional finals. They won 3 out of 4 group matches and then won their semi-final (6-5) to play against Repton School in the final. It was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking to watch (and some people couldn’t watch) but we all should have had more faith as Bramcote College ran out 10-6 winners.

This awesome all round performance saw the team run out winners and be crowned the East Midlands Netball Champions to add to the County Championship won last term. This means that they will now represent the East Midlands in the national finals over the weekend of March 17th -18th in Welwyn Garden City. It was a real privilege to be there on Saturday and I was incredibly proud to watch our girls – they were skilful and competitive on-court but humble and gracious in victory. A particular mention should go to Richard Bateman who has been their teacher over the past three years. To put their achievement into context, we were one of only two state schools in the competition.

The girls are now planning a weekend away for the national finals – Bramcote College’s team is determined to not only be the best state school in the country but also the best school in the country.

Bramcote College’s Winning Team:

Ella Bird, Caitlyn McDonald, Jodie Pease, Chloe Peebles, Holly Roome, Beth Rontree, Hollie Weddon, Jenna White
