Terry Holloway – Plessey Employee /Rufford Avenue Bramcote 1958

Our Facebook readers may recall an appeal I put out on behalf of Terry’s daughter in 2016. The post was very well received and shared and a number of people came forward who had fond memories of Terry. I was pleased to recently receive the following update:

Hi Sue
It’s been along time since we last had contact.(2016)
I want to thank you, Steve and Mick on your team for making it possible to find my late fathers co-workers from Plessey/GPT Beeston (1950s-1990s). It was proving so hard until I found Bramcote today.
It was such a comfort at a very difficult time to make sense of things, and I found having contact from the chaps he worked with so overwhelming with warmth and compassion.
The final cause of death at the hearing at the Council House Nottingham was Industrial Disease due to Asbestos. The Coroner had no doubt and I have the CD, a few paragraphs were quotes from his co-workers, which we are so grateful for.
The claim against Asbestos related death was rejected after a long case as it didn’t meet the criteria for compensation.
I wanted to update Bramcote Today, as you helped so much, and if any other employees in the future need support we could maybe support them as much as we were..
Thank-you to:
David Griffiths
Reg Woodward
Geoff Hatfield
John Marshall

Kind regards
Vivien Cooke-(Terrys daughter), Isobel and all his family
