BROXTOWE BOROUGH COUNCIL has been shortlisted for an award for its Parks, Open Spaces and Horticultural Services for the second year running at the Association of Public Services Excellence (APSE) Performance Network Awards.

Liberty Leisure Limited, who manage leisure, sports and events for the Council have also been shortlisted in the awards in the Sports and Leisure Facility Management category, with Bramcote Leisure shortlisted for Best Performer and Chilwell Olympia Sports Centre for Most Improved.

After picking up the Most Improved Performer Award for Parks, Open Spaces and Horticultural Services in 2015, the Council’s Parks Team were shortlisted for Best Performer in the same category in 2016 and now in 2017.

The Team maintain 23 parks and recreation grounds and over 40 open spaces across the borough, including four Green Flag Award winning parks and 15 Local Nature Reserves. They are also responsible for maintaining cemeteries, churchyards, allotments, Council Housing land and floral displays in the Borough’s town centres.

Liberty Leisure Limited have been shortlisted after being benchmarked against other similar leisure facilities in the APSE network on things like attendance, income generation and how efficiently the leisure centres are run.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Blackpool on Thursday 7th December.

The APSE Performance Networks Awards are national awards that compare data submitted by local authorities across the UK.
