Reduction in Trent Barton 18 and 21 routes

From 23rd July The Stapleford to Beeston Eighteen services will reduce in frequency from every 30 minutes to hourly.

And the 21 – which runs from Ilkeston to Nottingham – and 23 – which connects Heanor to Ilkeston – routes are being combined, affecting the timetables and routes of both.

Stapleford Councillor Richard MacRae has contacted both Trent Barton and NET as there is now more reason for the promised Shuttle Bus.   He has also copied in both of the County Councillors and is now awaiting replies.

  1. Perhaps Bramcote’s THREE county councillors could ask how this fits with the hundreds and hundreds of new homes the Borough Council are thinking of plonking in Bramcote and Stapleford?

      Or the many Houses going to be built on Field Farm and the new apartments being built right now on Hickings Lane,Stapleford.

      One of the reasons that new build on the former Sinbad site was granted was down to the Bus Service.

      My Husband Councillor Richard MacRae has also contacted the local County Councillors and is awaiting replies.

    28 May 2017 — I have received the following response from Trent Barton, unfortunately neither of the two County Councillors have bothered to respond as yet.

    Good afternoon Councillor Richard MacRae

    Thank you for your email regarding the reduction of frequency on our eighteen service from Sunday 23rd July.  

    Our eighteen route has faced a number of difficult challenges over the past few years including the extension of the tram line, which caused customer numbers to fall on the Stapleford to Beeston section of the route.

    We have had an issue with the punctuality of the eighteen, and something needed to be done. We extensively researched customer numbers, journey timings, and looked at every option. Unfortunately, there had to be some who would be disadvantaged by this change, and it is the residents of the Stapleford to Beeston section, by reduction of the frequency as a service. 

    This decision was made at Directorial level after careful consideration of all of the facts, and research into all facets of the service, so they are fully aware of all statistics and research used in making this decision. I imagine most users of the service will be aware of the changes, especially given the recent media interest.

    Our research showed that the usage in these areas was very small indeed. From a business perspective, if we can improve the service for most of the customers, it is a sound and sensible commercial decision. 

    We don’t want to disadvantage anyone, but sometimes it needs to be done for the greater good of the service. As such, we took a decision which we believe is in the best interests of the vast majority of eighteen customers. 

    I am truly sorry for any problems that this change causes to your constituents, this was not our intention, nor was it an easy decision to make, but changes did need to be made. 

    I will happily pass on your thoughts to our Directors, I have done so with all comments and complaints about the changes

    So now it’s 2018 and they still can’t get it right..The service is still rubbish and today the hourly? bus due at 09-55 at The Sherwin did’nt turn up at all..The information board did’nt show it as running so a text message to whereever the texts go to showed it due at 09-54..Nope, it did’nt..Why don’t Trent Barton just tell the truth and that is that after 09-30 most folks who use this service are bus pass holders?
