Press Release on the A52 in Broxtowe

Bramcote campaigner Tony Smith will meet the Roads Minister following a series of serious accidents on the A52.

Two people died last year and there was another very serious accident between the Priory Island and Bramcote roundabout a few weeks ago.  Dangerous speeding is believed to have been a factor and residents have complained about cars racing on the A52 for some time.

Transport Minister Andrew Jones told the House of Commons he would meet Tony Smith who is campaigning for anti-speed measures on the A52. Tony organised a petition to Parliament which attracted 1600 signatures. Tony said, “I am looking forward to meeting the Minister and getting support for the campaign to reduce speeding on the A52.  We need urgent action to prevent more deaths and to make the A52 safe for drivers and residents.”

Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry asked for the meeting during Transport Questions and the Minister was swift to agree.

Highways England are reviewing the A52 in Bramcote following last year’s fatal accident. Their report is expected soon.
