Press Release From Anna Soubry: Toton Is Now The Sole Location Being Considered For The East Midlands HS2 Hub.

Anna Soubry MPAnna Soubry, MP for Broxtowe, has welcomed the news that Toton is now the sole location being considered for the East Midlands HS2 Hub.

The Chairman of HS2 Ltd, Sir David Higgins, attended the East Midlands HS2 Strategic Board in Nottingham today, and has confirmed that after much deliberation, the Breaston location will no longer be considered and that HS2 Ltd is now focussed exclusively on the Toton location.

Whilst there is remaining assurance work to do on Toton, the proposal will be taken to the HS2 Board and will form part of the wider advice to Ministers who will then make the final route decision.

Anna said:

“The announcement is fantastic news for not only Toton, but for the entire constituency. HS2 will bring commercial development, jobs and growth to the area.”

“It is vital that we now work with HS2 Ltd to optimise the Toton location and meet the region’s aspirations for growth and connectivity.”

This news may explain why one of our councillors has recently put her Toton residence up for sale.
Advance warning from ‘friends in high places ? ‘

    • RichHartman says:

People sell houses all the time. Ask any estate agent (even though their ‘profession’ has added nothing of value to society) and I bet they say being close to Toton HS2 station will add value to your property. If anything, people will now be buying houses in Toton (at least north Toton) rather than selling, if the value of their house is their sole priority in life. You just have to grin and bear the construction phase. Short term pain for long term (financial) gain if you’re being selfish and not thinking of the homes needed by our children.
Even Ms Soubry supports development here in the greenbelt now. Who’d have thought it.
