There are three cycle centres across the Borough in Beeston, Stapleford and Eastwood. These centres are open to anyone and cater to every skill level. This includes everything from teaching kids to ride their bikes to helping adults gain the confidence to start using their bike as a mode of transport.
Set up in May 2014, Beeston Cycle Centre runs on Wednesday and Saturdays from Hetley Pearson Pavilion. Wednesdays are led by well-respected instructor Adrian Juffs, who has been running rides in the area for many years and delivers cycle maintenance courses. Adrian’s led ride on Wednesdays have become so popular that he recently hit a new milestone as he took his 100th rider!
“I enjoy the rides because it keeps me fit. The leader is good fun, knowledgeable and takes us on interesting rides. The rest of the group gel well, help each other out, and I’ve seen lots of Nottingham and its surroundings that I’ve never seen before. I would recommend the group to anyone.” says John Groves who attends Beeston Cycle Centre. Saturday sessions in Beeston are run by popular local instructor, Kelly O’Brian. Kelly has a particular flare for engaging the younger generation in cycling.
One of the longest serving cycle instructors Brian Shaw leads the Stapleford sessions on a Saturday morning from Hickings Lane Recreation Ground, along with Peter Revill. Eastwood cycle centre is run by Liz Johnson, an enthusiastic British Cycling coach who can’t help but pass on her love of cycling.
