Free Swimming Back In Broxtowe

Stapleford Town Councillor Richard MacRae writes: Residents of Broxtowe Borough aged 17 and under will be able to swim for free this summer when Broxtowe Borough Council reintroduces free swimming throughout the summer holidays.

Free swimming will be on offer to qualifying borough residents in receipt of a valid junior Broxtowe Leisure Card from July 28th – August 31st 2014 at the Council’s Bramcote and Kimberley Leisure Centres.

The free swimming initiative, which will run throughout much of the summer holidays, will encourage newcomers to swimming to take to the water alongside those who have not swam for a while.

Junior Broxtowe Leisure Cards, which are available free of charge to borough residents, will provide access to the free swim scheme throughout the summer holidays.

Having once visited Bramcote Leisure Centre during a free swimming season I noticed that the one thing there was not room to do was swim. I am all for providing youngsters with this opportunity but let us not pretend that the provision of either public or private swimming facilities in Bramcote or the surrounding area is anywhere near adequate to meet the demand. We fall along way behind other areas in this regard

    • With the planned development of that area, would it be a good idea to build a new fit for purpose swimming centre to match the new school. Just a thought.
