The Day An England netball Player Came to Bramcote Netball Club

SONY DSCCate Holmes Bramcote Netball Club writes: Just over a year ago Bramcote Netball Club, in Nottingham, choose to expand its’ established senior netball club by setting up a junior section which now has over 45 juniors now affiliated to England Netball. As SONY DSCa treat for all the hard work the girls have put in at training and games over the last year, the club arranged for the England International and Team Bath superleague player Stacey Francis to come and take a training session for them on Friday 11th of July . From the moment Stacey entered Bilborough Sports Hall, she took control and led an inspiring and engaging session for the girls aged between the ages of 9 and 15 years. She gave a brief history of her netball career from having only starting playing netball at the age of 14, to now being a SONY DSCsuccessful part of the England squad and going to the Commonwealth Games next month. She set the girls various skill drills focusing on her speciality of defence and she had them all working really hard; there were lots of red faces left at the end!

To add to the day, Julian Taylor (Netball Development Officer for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire) came along to present the club its newly awarded CAPS Bronze award for which the club are very proud of achieving in such a short time.

We all came out of our session with an England Netballer feeling energised as well as inspired, and we can’t wait to watch Stacey on the television at the Commonwealth Games this summer. We know they are determined for Gold this time round, and from what we saw of Stacey and her commitment along with love of netball, we know they will not stop until they get it! Good luck to the England Netball Team in the Commonwealth: we are all behind you!
